Our Terms
r Conditions of Hire
The hired self catering property shall be used solely for holiday purposes unless otherwise agreed in writing by the owners. The hirer must vacate the cottage at the termination of the hire. The cottage will be available from 14:00 hrs on the first day of hire and must be vacated by 10:00 hrs on the final day of the hire. The owner reserves the right to enter the premises at all reasonable times for the purposes of inspection, repair or other essential work or in the event of an emergency.
Pets
We have a “no pets” policy. This is in order to preserve the furnishings.
Cleaning
Hansel Cottage is cleaned between each let. The turn-around time is quite tight so we request that our guests leave the house in the same condition as they found it. Leaving the house in an untidy/dirty condition will result in guests being invoiced for cleaning.
Charges
Our charges include bed linen, towels and heating and lighting. Complimentary toiletries are provided courtesy of The Shetland Soap Company. We also provide a small complimentary welcome basket courtesy of Scoop Wholefoods. Coffee, tea and sugar are kept in stock for all our visitors. Fresh milk and bread will be provided for your arrival.
Booking Deposit
A deposit of £50 is required at the time of booking, and the remainder will become due for payment 4 weeks before your arrival date. Bookings made within 4 weeks of your arrival date must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
Please note that by completing a booking form and making a deposit payment, you (the hirer) have entered into a legal agreement. This means you are bound to abide by the conditions of hire and any other reasonable instructions given by the property owner.
Insurance
We would advise you to take out travel insurance once you have made your booking. Otherwise you may lose money if for any reason you have to cancel your trip.
How to pay
Payment of both the deposit and final balance can be made by cheque, by bank transfer or PayPal. If you wish to pay by bank transfer or by PayPal please contact us for details.
Number of guests/occupants
We request that you let us know when you book how many people will be staying in the cottage. This can be done when you fill in the initial booking form. We can accommodate 5 people in our two bedrooms. We can provide a fold out bed on request. Any other requirements, such as travel cot and stair gates, should be indicated at the time of booking and we will be happy to provide these. There will be no extra charge.
Loss or damage
Guests (the hirers) shall be responsible for any damages or breakages to the property, furnishings etc. All damages, breakages or loss must be reported and paid for prior to departure.
Smoking/Vaping
We do not permit smoking or vaping within Hansel Cottage. This is for Health and Safety Reasons and for the comfort of future guests. We do permit smoking/vaping outside the cottage but we would ask that guests (hirers) dispose of matches, cigarette ends or disposable vapes in the bin provided or in any other bin. Please do not leave rubbish lying around on the ground.
